SUMMARY:Shannon Airport Peace Camp - Sat 4th and Sun 5th July
DESCRIPTION:It starts this Saturday at 6am and finished on Sunday at 6pm. All are welcome to come whenever might suit them. The 6am start is because that is around the time of the arrivals of the flights from the US. The ‘peace camp’ will be right there at the Peace roundabout at the entrance to the airport.  It is visible by traffic (so good for the protest messaging) and well lit (so safer for the overnighters)\nSome basic food will be available e.g a big curry for sharing\nIf you are going for the night\, bring a tent.\nFor the overnighters there will be music\, chit chatting\, networking and a workshop to discuss the upcoming 25th anniversary celebrations at Shannon Airport. Ways to celebrate the actions taken over the years and the activists who took them will be discussed.\nDuring the usual Sunday Vigil hours (9am-12pm) there will be a reading of the names of children killed in various illegal wars in West Asia.

Stephen’s Green\, Dublin \n\n ‘EU Warmongers\, No More War\, Leave Our Neutrality Alone.’\n\n\nThe European Peace Facility describes itself as ‘an instrument aimed at enhancing the EU’s ability to prevent conflicts\, build and preserve peace and strengthen international security and stability’\, yet the EU has refused peace talks over Ukraine since 2022\, and has failed to take action against the genocide in Gaza since 2023. \n\n \n\nWe must mobilise to tell our political representatives that we reject the EU’s drive to war and demand that they keep the Triple Lock.                                              Serving as UN Peacekeepers is the only way to ‘strengthen international security and stability’.\n\n \n\nAs Willie O’Dea TD recently wrote:\n\nThe Oireachtas must find a way to bolster the UN system\, not edge away from it.
