The scheduled visit of EU High Representative Kaja Kallas to Ireland on 2 September 2026 follows her June meeting with Irish Minister Thomas Byrne and occurs during Ireland’s EU Presidency, a period when the contradictions between EU imperialist ambitions and national sovereignty, particularly for so-called “neutral” states like Ireland, are sharpening. Kallas represents the most aggressive wing of EU imperialism, serving as the bloc’s foreign policy chief. She is a Russophobic, hawkish warmonger whose aggressive militarisation agenda does not represent the ordinary people of Ireland. Her agenda is effectively making Irish neutrality null and void.
